22-year-old Manami Nakamura will make her international debut as a singer this month. In August of last year, she outlasted a field of 1,700 hopefuls to win the STAR BAPE SEARCH, an audition held by American producer Pharrell Williams and Japanese producer NIGO (creator of fashion brand A Bathing Ape).

The singer will go by just her first name, Manami. Her debut song is an R&B love song titled "Back Of My Mind," produced by Pharrell. It will be released through iTunes in 23 countries on October 21.

So I feel bad for the girl, I checked out the track, and it was pretty bad (than again I was never a big fan of Pharrell beats). I don't know how well A Bathing Ape's clothing company is selling in Asia, but in North America, its time here bust quicker than Buster Douglas on a Double D Bust. Was a Bathing Ape really looking for a "star"? or was this just a sad attempt to create some buzz to revive another falling clothing line? Having Listened to the track a few times, it sounded like something Pharrell put together between breakfast and brunch. Releasing the track in 23 countries and in English, A Bathing Ape hopes to regain some international attention. However, what can a unknown singer from Asia do to help a sinking fashion line? Only time will tell, she needs to come out with a HIT, or start with a little Strip... I hope it works out for both parties, cause I was and still am a fan of A Bathing Ape. In Nigo we Trust !
